How It Works

Three simple steps to a safer street.

1

Register

Add your cameras (CCTV, doorbell or dashcam) in under 2 minutes. No cameras? You can still join.

2

Get Alerted

Receive local crime alerts sourced from verified police media releases, not social media rumour.

3

Help Police

If something happens nearby, share relevant footage securely, on your terms, straight to police.

Less Door-Knocking. More Time Catching Offenders.

When a crime happens, investigators have traditionally had to go street by street, knocking on doors to find who might have relevant footage, a process that can take hours or even days. If your camera is already registered with Safer Places, police can find it and request footage directly.

That's time and resources returned to the investigation itself, spent on solving the case and catching the person responsible, not chasing down who has a camera.

Without registered cameras
Hours to days
Door-to-door enquiries to locate footage
With Safer Places
Minutes
Structured request straight to a registered camera

Why Individuals Join

Everything you need to keep your home, street and community safer.

Register Your Cameras

CCTV, dashcams, doorbells: let police know they exist so they can ask for footage when it matters.

Appear on the Police Map

Locations with registered cameras appear on a verified map, visible only to police, so evidence can be found fast.

Crime Alerts

Localised alerts about crime in your area, sourced from police media releases, not social media rumours.

Connect With Neighbours

Modern Neighbourhood Watch. Know who's looking out nearby, without sharing personal details.

Footage Requests

If an incident happens nearby, you may be asked to check your cameras, and share footage securely, on your terms.

Privacy Protected

Built with guidance from privacy and law-enforcement experts. Your data is never sold or shared with third parties.

Neither police nor Safer Places will ever ask for your camera login, password, or remote access. Registering a camera only confirms it exists at your location: nobody can view or access your footage remotely. If police need footage, you're sent a request and you choose what to share, always on your own terms.

How Crime Alerts Work

Alerts come from verified police sources and real local crime reports, delivered as relevant, actionable information on your phone.

Police media releases are currently available in VIC and NSW, with more states coming soon.

Questions from Residents

Do I need a camera to join?
No. You can join without any cameras and still receive crime alerts, report incidents, and be part of your local safety network.
Can I register my dashcam?
Absolutely. Dashcams, doorbell cameras, CCTV: any camera that might capture useful footage can be registered.
Will my home address be visible?
Your exact address is only visible to verified police officers. Other community members can see that a camera exists in the general area, not your specific address.
Will police or Safer Places ever ask for my camera login?
Never. Registering a camera only confirms it exists at your location; it doesn't give anyone remote access to it. Neither police nor Safer Places will ever contact you asking for a login, password, or remote access to your camera or footage. If you receive a message like that, treat it as a scam and don't respond.
Can I cancel the premium plan anytime?
Yes. No lock-in contracts. Cancel anytime from your account settings and you'll revert to the free plan.
How do I share footage with police?
When police need footage from your area, you'll receive a secure request. You can upload it directly through our platform or via WhatsApp, always on your terms.
